49er Account
The 49er Account is a fast, convenient way to purchase goods and services on campus.
This pre-paid convenience account may be used at over 100 campus locations including:
- All campus dining locations*
- Sports and Theater concessions
- Atkins Library
- Barnes & Noble at UNC Charlotte Bookstore
- NinerTech store
- Campus Salon
- Parking and Transportation Services
- Mail & Package Services (including Union Station)
- Campus vending machines
- Copy Center, photocopiers, and pay-for-print printers in library and labs
- Residence hall laundry facilities

You may deposit to the 49er Account anytime; funds remain available from year to year. Minimum for online deposit is only $5. VTS machines (value transfers cash to 49er Card) have a $1 minimum.
- 49er Account funds are not sales tax exempt for dining purchases. For greatest savings, we recommend using an Optional Dining Account for campus food purchases. ODA saves 9.25% (prepared food sales tax in Mecklenburg County, NC).

- In person at one of our two locations, the 49er Card Office located in the Auxiliary Services Building or the ID Card office located in the Student Union.
- By mail: Send check or money order to the 49er Card Office, 9201 University City Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28223. Be sure to include the student's UNC Charlotte ID number.
- VTS machines: They are located on the first and second floors of the Atkins Library, the Barnard Computer Commons, and the Residence Dining Hall. (VTS machines only accept cash)
Optional Dining Account
An Optional Dining Account (ODA) is a sales-tax-free debit account exclusively for food that can be used at any campus dining location, including concessions and Outtakes convenience stores.
ODA is available to all students, faculty and staff. This account can save up to 9.25% in sales tax with every dining purchase!
For any resident student, ODA can supplement a meal plan. It's also a sensible choice for students who commute or live in Laurel Hall, Greek Village or on-campus apartments.
Deposits can be made anytime during the year. The Optional Dining Account balance rolls over from semester to semester, year to year, as long as the student is enrolled.
ODA requires a minimum deposit of $5.00.
