Vending Services

Vending machines are liberally placed throughout campus. Auxiliary Services, in cooperation with our contracted vending partners, strive to keep prices lower in campus machines than are usually found off-campus.

As a general rule, snack and drink machines accept dollar bills, change, and the 49er Account. In the snack machines, the row of snacks to the far right is where the healthier choices are stocked.

Reporting Vending Machine Malfunctions

The vending machines on this campus dispense over 1.5 million units per year and, as a result, do sometimes malfunction.

If you discover a beverage or snack machine that is not working properly, please tell us. To report vending malfunctions, call 704-687-7333 or write . The more information you can give us about the problem, the faster we can correct it. Please tell us the:

  • Brand/ Type (Coke, Pepsi, Snack)
  • Machine number, if known
  • Building / location
  • Description of the problem
  • Type of currency used (coin or a dollar bill), if the machine gave you back change but did not vend
  • if the machine gave you any type of message on the display screen

Vending Department personnel will contact the appropriate company as soon as the problem is reported. Canteen, Coke, and Pepsi make every effort to correct the problem as soon as they can.

Vending Refunds:

Refunds are available for machine malfunctions in the Auxiliary Services office in the Auxiliary Services Building (across the street from Parking and Transportation Services.)

If a purchase was made with 49er Account, you can request a refund online or call 704-687-7333 (staffed between the hours of 8am and 5pm Monday – Friday; if after hours, leave voicemail) and a refund will be electronically credited to the account.

We want your use of the campus vending machines to be a pleasant experience. We view customers' calls to report problems as beneficial in meeting this goal.

Request for Service

Requests for the placement of vending machines should be made in writing and sent to the Vending Department. Decisions as to the placement of vending machines are made on criteria specific to the type of machine. All placements are subject to approval by the building authority responsible for the space in question.

If a modification of a current vending site is desired please send a letter requesting the change. The letter should specify:

  • desired change
  • whether a utility source is available to supply the machine
  • how the change will benefit the building users

Any utility improvement that needs to occur to accommodate the initial installation into a new building is done so at the expense of the Vending Department. Utility changes resulting from a request to move machines from an initial installation location to another location in the same building or the installation of a machine outside the primary location will be the responsibility of the requesting department.
