Geek out with this month’s Science on the Rocks event at Discovery Place Science. Celebrating all things Carolina, you’ll be able to see if you can take the heat with Carolina reaper pepper tastings, hang out with Sir Purr of the Carolina Panthers and enjoy a paper airplane station. Friday, Nov. 15, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets start at $12.

- Take the light rail to 7th Street Station and walk two blocks up to Tryon St.

Enjoy some rooftop vinyasa style flow yoga and art at the Harvey B Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture. Starts at noon on Sunday, Nov. 17. $10.

- Use the Stonewall Station and then walk one block up to 551 South Tryon Street.

ALL WEEKEND

Kick start your holiday season with some outdoor fun at the Holiday on Ice event at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Between now and Jan. 5, you’ll be able to enjoy ice skating, holiday lights and hot cocoa. Pricing starts at $12.

- Ride the light rail down to 3rd/Convention Center Street and walk .2 miles over to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

SATURDAY

Celebrate the one-year anniversary of Smallcakes Utopia from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16. There will be a DJ, cupcake and gift card giveaways, photo ops and great deals on cupcakes and ice cream. Free. Get off at the University City Blvd stop and walk .5 miles up towards University City Blvd. Smallcakes is located next to Starbucks.

Bundle up, grab some coffee and cheer on the 2019 Novant Health Charlotte Marathon runners, Saturday, Nov. 16 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Check out the route map here. There will be multiple stops you can use on the light rail in NoDa and Uptown, just be sure to time your arrival so you don’t miss the runners. Don’t want to watch the marathon? Just be aware that there will be many road closures Saturday morning that may impact traffic and getting around the city.
